To welcome the lunar New Year, not only do we need to clean our home, we should also reset and readjust our body and mind. But how do we cleanse the dust and defilement off our bodies and minds?
“All the chaos and instability in the external environment actually originate from our three poisons of mind—greed, hatred, and ignorance,” said Dharma Drum Mountain abbot president Ven. Guo Huei, who encouraged us to constantly contemplate and reflect on our mind and examine our thoughts, purifying our bodily, verbal, and mental actions while inspiring others to handle matters with wisdom and treat people with compassion. In this way, we can naturally internalize and act out the Buddha’s teaching in our daily life, to benefit ourselves and the environment, for everyone to enjoying peace and freedom.
As a blessing for 2023, we’d like to share the vegetable’s Chinese New Year address, for all of us to learn to cultivate blessings and wisdom, celebrating the brand new year by starting with our mind.
